Field notes

Ravens are among the most intelligent animals, capable of using tools and solving multi-step logic puzzles that require planning.
They are exceptional mimics, able to imitate human speech, mechanical noises, and the vocalizations of other wildlife.
Unlike the American Crow, the raven features a distinct wedge-shaped tail and elongated, shaggy throat feathers known as hackles.
In flight, ravens are highly acrobatic, often performing rolls, somersaults, and even flying upside down for brief periods to display vigor.
They maintain a mutualistic relationship with wolves, often leading them to prey and scavenging the remains once the wolves have finished.

Habitat

Extremely versatile, occupying coniferous forests, rocky cliffs, mountain ranges, coastal tundras, and arid deserts.
