Distinguished from the similar Green-cheeked Parakeet by its greenish-yellow primary coverts and lack of a blue hue on the primary feathers.
Commonly travels in noisy, fast-moving flocks of 6 to 12 individuals, though larger groups may form around abundant food sources.
Plays a vital role in its ecosystem as a seed disperser for native trees like the Araucaria angustifolia.
Nesting occurs in tree cavities, often utilizing abandoned woodpecker holes, where females lay clutches of 2 to 6 eggs.
