Field notes

It is distinguished from other hill mynas by having only two yellow wattles on the nape and none below the eyes.
The species possesses a heavy, orange-red bill with a distinct yellow tip and bright yellow legs.
Unlike many related species, it is strictly endemic to the island of Sri Lanka and does not occur naturally elsewhere.
It is a highly social bird, typically seen in pairs or small groups foraging in the high canopy of primary forests.
Its diet is primarily frugivorous, consisting of wild figs, berries, and occasionally nectar or small insects.
