Field notes

They frequently excavate nesting cavities within active arboreal termite mounds.
Outside of the breeding season, they often congregate in large, noisy flocks of up to 100 individuals.
Their diet is diverse, consisting primarily of canopy fruits, seeds, blossoms, and nectar.
The species is sexually monomorphic, meaning males and females are visually identical.
They are particularly common along the edges of major Amazonian rivers and in seasonally flooded várzea forests.

Habitat

Lowland rainforest, riverine margins, and disturbed secondary growth.
