Field notes
- It is easily distinguished from the similar Common Ringed Plover by the presence of a bright yellow fleshy ring around the eye.
- Unlike most other small plovers, it lacks a white wing-bar, showing uniform brown upperwings in flight.
- The species frequently nests in human-made environments, such as gravel pits and industrial wasteland with sparse vegetation.
