Field notes

It was historically treated as a subspecies of the Island Leaf Warbler (Phylloscopus poliocephalus) before being elevated to full species status.
The species is the only member of the genus Phylloscopus that is entirely restricted to the island of Biak.
It exhibits a prominent yellowish-white supercilium (eyebrow) which contrasts sharply with a dark olive eye-stripe.
Foraging occurs primarily in the mid-to-upper canopy where it gleans small insects and spiders from foliage.
While its total population size is unknown, it is currently classified as Least Concern due to its tolerance of secondary forest growth.

Habitat

Tropical lowland moist forests, forest edges, and mature secondary growth.
