Field notes

Equipped with a specialized brush-tipped tongue for efficient extraction of nectar and pollen from blossoms.
Adults display a prominent bare white eye-ring and a red forehead patch that brightens during the breeding season.
Unlike more sedentary parrots, they are highly nomadic and will travel vast distances to locate mass-flowering eucalyptus and melaleuca trees.
