Field notes

It is the smallest species in the genus Cacatua, typically measuring around 31 centimeters in length.
The species is famous for 'Goffin’s tool set,' demonstrating the ability to use and even manufacture multiple tools in a specific sequence.
Unlike many other cockatoos, it lacks a prominent colored crest, possessing instead a small, white, rounded crest.
It features distinctive salmon-pink feathers on the lores, the area between the eye and the base of the upper mandible.
While endemic to Indonesia, successful feral populations have established themselves in urban Singapore and Puerto Rico.

Habitat

Lowland primary and secondary forests, coastal mangroves, and agricultural areas.
