Field notes

It is the only member of the monotypic genus Guaruba.
Unlike most parrots, they practice communal breeding where several adults cooperate to raise a single clutch.
The plumage is entirely golden-yellow, contrasting sharply with dark green primary and secondary flight feathers.
The species is highly nomadic, moving through the canopy in search of seasonal fruits, seeds, and blossoms.
They are listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN primarily due to deforestation and the illegal pet trade.

Habitat
