The Dalat Bush Warbler is a small, elusive passerine endemic to the highlands of southern Vietnam, characterized by its secretive nature and insect-like song.

Field notes

It was formerly classified as a subspecies of the Russet Bush Warbler but was elevated to species status based on distinct vocalizations and genetic divergence.
The species is highly terrestrial, spending most of its time running through dense undergrowth rather than flying.
It is morphologically very similar to its relatives, appearing mostly warm brown with a pale throat and a faint greyish eyebrow.
The bird is named after the Da Lat Plateau, its primary range in the Lang Biang mountains.
Unlike many other warblers, it is rarely seen in the open, usually requiring the use of its song to be identified in the field.

Habitat

Dense montane scrub, tall grass, and thick vegetation at forest edges, typically above 1,200 meters elevation.

Range

Endemic to the Da Lat Plateau in southern Vietnam.
