Field notes

It is strictly endemic to the Aldabra Atoll in the Seychelles, making it one of the most range-restricted white-eyes.
Though often treated as a subspecies of the Madagascar White-eye, it is morphologically distinct with a larger bill.
The bird plays a significant role in its ecosystem as a pollinator while feeding on nectar from native flora.
Outside of the breeding season, these birds are highly social and move in small, restless foraging flocks.
Their nests are delicate, thin-walled cups typically suspended in the fork of a mangrove or scrub branch.

Habitat
